Thanks to President Islam Karimov's personal affinity for tennis, tennis courts have sprung up across the country and Tashkent is the center of tennis in Uzbekistan. You can rent equipment and play at any sporting club. "NBU Sports Club", located about 600meters east of Khamid Olimjon metro, the facility includes tennis courts, unheated swimming pool, gym and facilities for children. Swimmers can also try the central indoor public pool.

There are a couple of places to go for bowling, including "Yulduz Bowling Alley" and "Uz Bowling".

Runners and walkers can join the local branch of the "Hash House Harriers" as they cruise the streets of Tashkent for an hour before repairing to the nearest watering hole. Hashers meet at the Hotel Uzbekistan on Sundays (6PM summer, 3PM rest of the year). A US$1 fee includes soft drinks and metro tokens.

"Tashkent Lakeside Golf Club" is at Lake Rokhat, on the southeast edge of the city, where you can spend a great time playing golf.

"Tashkent Land", Uzbekistan's largest amusement park, is located just north of InterContinental Hotel. The onsite Aqua Park provides a welcome relief in summer. Other sporting sites include:
